- An "engine definition" I'm currently working on
- Saturn was growing to be too general-purpose - I think we can do better.
- A refreshed version of a very old framework from a game called Dark Blue. now codenamed Stranger
- I'll get this working for Forth Day, in the meantime all you get are screenshots
- Specs:
- Oriented towards 2D arcade-style genres
- Designed for a shootemup game, but useful for other genres
- Low graphic fidelity, gameplay is the emphasis
- Very simple API style - Colorforth-like
- Actually groundwork to get even more genre-specific. This is more of a middleware. It's an idiom, but I hesitate to make it a module.
- May evolve into an all-in-one game development environment (inspiration: PICO-8)
- I want to move towards this kind of prepackaged, zero-thought-required game development process. Special-purpose engines, WYSIWYG tools, very rapid iteration. Maximize effort allocated to game design, and less time spent on graphics etc.
- Baby steps
- It's an experiment
